As an Electrician for 35 years, I have had my share of safety glasses, both prescription and otherwise. These are the worst I have ever owned. They are so delicate that they break at the hinges with light use. I do not always have to use them and so they are usually put away in a protective sleeve. If you drop them, prepare to have them be broken. They will definitely not take being dropped. If you wear safety glasses there is a strong likelihood that you will drop them at some point, but that is not all. If you use them under normal circumstances prepare to have them broken. If you wear them around your neck in anticipation of using them throughout the day, prepare to have them broken. In short, they do not last under less than normal working conditions. Within 6 months of getting a new pair of prescription safety glasses with these frames they broke at the hinge on one side. Until I was able to replace them, I managed to wear them, but the arm would pop out of the frame when folded up. I contacted Armour Rx and let them know of the problem, but they didn't care at all, nor did they offer any warranty service. Fortunately, my employer offered to pay for new frames as the bifocal lenses were still in great shape. The outrageously priced for what they are, frames cost $100 to replace. And since I had already experienced them breaking from light use, I was extra careful with them each time they were needed. The second set of frames lasted just about 10 months before breaking at the hinges again. You would think that a pair of safety glasses would be more robust and durable than this considering they cost more than $450 with the lenses and coatings. Let's face it the frames are a fraction of the total cost. The real cost to make the frames is probably only a few dollars and yet they retail for $100. This is completely ridiculous. My advice is to find another manufacturer. If Armour Rx can't make a decent nonconductive pair of safety glass frames, I would not trust them to protect my eyes when I need them to. Poor customer service as well.
